FriFri-Dalcq, a rich history in which the products conquered Belgium

One in three fryers sold in Belgium comes from the Dalcq warehouses in Orp-Jauche, Walloon Brabant. It started with just one man: Denis Dalcq. In the 1970s, shortly after completing his technical studies, he started up in selling and assembling fitted kitchens. It was there that he became aware of the unique qualities of the Swiss fryers from FriFri. The Managing Director of the company took it upon himself to introduce them here in Belgium: "At the time, I did everything myself, practically in the back of my car" he remembers. The result was that in the space of 12 months the number of fryers on the Belgian market increased from zero to 1,800!

Innovation and diversification as a recipe for success

FriFri fryers are different from those of the competitors because of their cool-zone system. This first for Belgium allows the oil to stay cleaner for longer by blocking the residue at the base of the bowl without the deposits burning. To start with, Mr Dalcq was happy to import household fryers from Switzerland. Very quickly though, his passion for innovation and product development pushed him to manufacture electrical household appliances himself. It was the start of a long success story.

The FriFri-Dalcq product range spreads to other sectors

And so, the company supplemented its catalogue of cool-zone fryers with the production of removable-plate waffle makers. In 1997, the year in which FriFri-Dalcq bought the designs of the manufacturer Nova, which had gone bankrupt. The company focused on waffle irons, multi-grills and fondue sets as well as its key activity: household fryers. The range expanded and the quality of its services linked to the quality of the assembly did the rest. Today, FriFri-Dalcq products have established themselves as essential items in kitchens. They have won over food-lovers in Belgium, as well as in France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and even Poland. Today, the company makes almost 75,000 household fryers per year, and 25,000 waffle makers and it does not intend to stop when it is going so well.

In brief

The Dalcq brand has not stopped innovating and diversifying its activities in the kitchen sector. It has a rich history in which the products have won over food-lovers throughout Benelux. FriFri-Dalcq is a brand that is passed down from mother to daughter and from father to son.
